Geoff Lawson was born in the UK and is one of the world's most highly regarded and prolific orchestrators working in the film and music industries.

He has worked on some of the most prominent film productions with many of the world's top film composers. In 2019 Ludwig Goransson's score for Black Panther, for which Geoff wrote a large number of orchestrations, won the Oscar for Best Original Score.

Known for the clarity and effectiveness of his work, Geoff's compositional style draws from the Classical tradition, Jazz and the great post-war Hollywood film composers. He combines this with an in-depth knowledge of cutting-edge studio technology and modern sampling techniques.

Geoff has collaborated with many high-profile artists, including Rod Stewart, Andrea Bocelli, Gregory Porter, Jess Gillam, Hayley Westenra, Katherine Jenkins and Gary Barlow. He has written many arrangements for the acclaimed vocal group Voces8. In 2018 he arranged and conducted orchestral sessions for The Kingdom Choir's album Stand By Me. His television work also includes arrangements for the BBC programme Songs of Praise and ITV's Dancing on Ice.

He is also known throughout the music industry for the ultra-realism of his orchestral mockups and equally adept at writing for live orchestra or composing using samples.

Geoff also composes music for media and advertising through the joint venture Sound Gallery and in 2015 he arranged and conducted orchestrations for the John Lewis Christmas advert.

He was educated at Cambridge University and graduated with a First Class Honours in Music, studying harmony with Paul Wingfield and composition with Giles Swayne.
